Newspaper Clipping Description: Black and white picture of the German family house with 15 people on or next to the porch. Front Print: “REPUBLICAN OBSERVER, Richland Center, Wis. Thursday, December 15, 1960, Page 11, Mr. and Mrs. Dan German, Mr. and Mrs John German, Jr., Anna and Grant German (on porch), Albert German, Dr. and Mrs. George Mitchell (the former Minnie German), Lottie and Fred Mitchell, Fred German, Mr. and Mrs. John German, Sr., and Margery Mitchell in front of the old German homestead near Aubrey Corners. The house was built big to accommodate hop pickers at harvest time when that crop boomed in Richland county after the Civil War. Fred German, Jr., lives her now and has kept the big parlour as it used to be when the Germans held Christmas parties there and had their friends in for musical evenings. More about the Germans and Aubrey Corners can be found in the “Know Your Neighbors” column on another page.” Front Writing: “a”.
