- Description
This commercial vernacular structure was built in 1877 and altered in 1889. The architect was S. V. Shipman of Chicago. The building was constructed to house the Reedsburg Bank. A fire earlier in 1877 destroyed F. Raetzman's tailor shop at this site. Raetzman sold the lot to J. W. Lusk, an attorney and bank official. In 1899 the windows on the second story were lowered. Several local craftsmen were involved in the construction of the building. Various businesses have been located here.
The Reedsburg Historic Survey was conducted from October 1983 through April 1984 by the City of Reedsburg and community volunteers. The project was funded, in part, by a National Park Service and U. S. Department of the Interior grant, administered by the Historic Preservation Division of the State Historical Society of Wisconsin. The surveys and accompanying photographs, housed at the Reedsburg Public Library, were compiled to determine National Register of Historic Places eligibility.
