Though born in Prairie du Chien, Elizabeth Therese Baird spent much of her youth on Mackinac Island. Married at the age of 14 to Henry S. Baird, Baird accompanied her husband to their new home in Green Bay in 1824. Baird recounts here her early years in northern Wisconsin.
