This Italian map from 1778 depicts the upper portion of the Old Northwest. Rivers and lakes are identified and relief, real and imagined, is depicted pictorially. The Indian tribes of the region are identified. The Mississippi River is shown from the Falls of St. Anthony to the area of present-day Saint Louis.
