This photograph shows a tavern on S 1st St. There is a Schlitz sign over the door, and Schlitz signs and lights in the windows. On the side of the building is a painted advertisement for 50/50 by Graf, a type of soda pop.
Oct 61 / Streets - S 1st / Wudtke Collection / 9 / B504 / Above: Old saloon (tavern) and the adjoining smaller building located at the northwest corner of South First Street and West Orchard Streets, as 1439-1437-1435 South First Street, formerly as 537-537 1/2-535 Clinton Street. Listed as having occupied the corner tavern, as Peter Raskoph, 1868-69, and under the name of Raskoph until about 1890. in 1900, the small place to the right as Celia Apfel, notions, also as in 1921 as Leo Hauser, dry goods. Location in 1855 as vacant. / Razed 1966 Apr / Bldgs shown, photo of Oct 1961, razed Apr 1966, located at the nw cor of S. 1st and W. Orchard Strs. Bldg shown at cor occ as saloon (tavern) by John Peter Raskopf from year of 1868 to 1890 then aquired by the Schlitz Brew'g Co and later by various others. Small one story bldg shown at right occ as dry goods and notions store / Aug Greuder groc 537 Clinton 1882 not listed around that time
