This photograph was taken of an image that appeared in James S. Buck's "Pioneer History of Milwaukee". It shoes a portion of N Water St. Visible stores include the Bradley Metcalf Shoe Company, and a store that sells dry goods. Most of the buildings are wood-frame construction, and some contain false fronts. Awnings cover the entrances to some of the buildings.
