Image Description: Black and white image showing a large room with a lot of seating with a stage and flags decorating the walls. There are also photographs hanging on the wall, one is of George Washington. This was located upstairs in the building located on the southwest corner of Main and Court Streets. The Pier Opera House was located overhead of what is now (1983) the Gamble Store at the corner of Court and Main Streets on the west corner (across from the Richland County Bank). The seating in the Opera House was stationary, similar to the auditorium except the seats were not padded or upholstered. Most events of importance such as graduations, celebrations, lyceums, etc., were held in the Opera House until the auditorium was built (1912). Pier sold out to Coffland who used the building for a clothing store, turning the overhead part of the store into a men’s clothing department. Mr. Qualy sold hats there. Henry Nort
