A Japanese soldier frisks a Chinese passenger, another watches with his bayonet pointed at the passenger. Sand bags and barbed wire are seen along the occupied street, with factory chimneys in the background. The photo shows a corner of the Japanese military position at Xuhuquan, Tianjin 天津. The Chinese characters used are zhi na ren 支那人, which is a derogatory term for Chinese.
