Michelle found this quilt top and back in 1995, in a paper bag in her grandmother’s linen closet after her grandmother passed away. She thought it looks like it was in the process of being taken apart because the scallops on the edges weren’t stitched. The quilt is a Dresden plate pattern, and was possibly made by her great-grandmother Margaret Curry but she isn’t sure about that. Michelle’s mom remembers going up to her grandmother’s (Michelle’s great-grandmother) second floor sewing room when she was about 7 years old and being awed by all of the beautiful colors in the fabrics that were there. Michelle guesses that this quilt was made somewhere between 1937 and 1945. Michelle washed and ironed the quilt and determined that it is made from cotton materials and fitted the scallops back into the border. She reattached the backing and had a local Amish lady, Mrs. Fanny Mast had quilt it, which was traditional for quilts like this. Michelle made a label for the back with the quilt infor
