Residence located on southeast corner of N. Jackson St. and E. Mason St. Home of James B. Martin, a prominent builder and businessman who occupied the site up to around 1858.
Residence shown located at the southeast corner of North Jackson and East Mason streets, of which the lot at corner and adjoining lot at right, as lots number 11 and 12, block 29, were deeded in 1852 to James B. Martin, prominent builder and business man at that time, and as site of residence occupied by him up to around the year of 1858, after that by various others. Residence shown at right built in 1873 both of which were razed around 1963. The porch shown lower picture of which the roof - in order to give it classy appearance - was purposely built to give it a sagging or concave effect. Lapham's map of 1855 indicates or shows the ground plan or outline of the residence, along with the name of J. B. Martin, and site or lot to the right is shown being vacant at that time. Around the year 1859 Martin's next place of residence was at the southeast corner of Cass and Division streets, now as North Cass street and East Juneau avenue, died here, January 18,1878 at the age of 63 years.
