- Description
From a booklet of 37 engravings based on a series of photographs taken by H.H. Bennett in 1886 of a group of raftsmen from the Grand Rapids (Wisconsin Rapids) area during their journey down the Wisconsin River. From T. A. Taylor, 100 Years of Pictorial and Descriptive History of Wisconsin Rapids, Wisconsin (1934-1940): "You run about fourteen hours a day. We used to get started at five o'clock in the morning and tie up at seven in the evening, or start in the morning at six o'clock and tie up about eight, which would give us fourteen hours run."
