- Description
This commercial vernacular structure was built in 1910. It is known as the Louis Schultze Block and was built to house a general store. In 1910, the Siefert, Horkan and Verthein Company, a department store, moved in. It was also known as The Daylight Store because of the building's large expanse of windows and lights. The Daylight Store was absorbed by the Reedsburg Co-Op Store in 1920. The building has also housed the National Sportswear Company. At the time of the survey, M & J Auto parts occupied the building.
The Reedsburg Historic Survey was conducted from October 1983 through April 1984 by the City of Reedsburg and community volunteers. The project was funded, in part, by a National Park Service and U. S. Department of the Interior grant, administered by the Historic Preservation Division of the State Historical Society of Wisconsin. The surveys and accompanying photographs, housed at the Reedsburg Public Library, were compiled to determine National Register of Historic Places eligibility.
