- Description
Henry Rowe Schoolcraft, an Indian agent and author, mapped the route taken by the Cass and Doty expedition of 1820. This expedition, undertaken at the suggestion of Secretary of War John Calhoun, sought to survey and map the topography, natural resources, and various Indian tribes of the Northern Great Lakes region.
