Black Earth was a thriving agricultural village when this view was made in 1876. It individually identifies important public buildings and businesses. Neighborhoods and specific homes are shown in clear detail, as is the course of Black Earth Creek. Rail and telegraph lines are also visible, and a locomotive is depicted entering town near the bottom edge of the print.
