The original Ashland County Courthouse was located on the north side of 2nd Street between Sixth Ave West and Seventh Ave West. The cornerstone for the building was laid on Oct. 3, 1887. It was used as the Ashland County Courthouse through 1915. The building then became a National Guard armory and later was used by the Peavey Printing Co. It was then taken down and the current Ashland U.S. Post Office was built on this site in 1939 and dedicated August 31, 1940.
