January 8, 1938. Kitale, Kenya: Conquest of man over devastating forces of nature. The farm shown here evidently was tilled without precautions against washing away of the soil for some time, then as the wave of reclamation swept over Africa about 1934, the owner decided to carry out contour ditching and thus save the rest of his soil. 8100 feet. 08:50.
